Early hospice intervention is beneficial for the patient and his/her loved ones.

Our organization treats hospice-appropriate patients who have terminal diagnoses, including cancer, heart disease, ALS, pulmonary disease, stroke, liver disease and dementia, with a prognosis of six months or less.

A person can utilize hospice healthcare when the attending physician determines that, if the individual’s illness ran its natural course, the individual’s life expectancy could be six months or less.

The best indicator is to ask the question – Would you be surprised if your loved one passed in the next six months or so? Also, other indicators are – frequent visits to hospital/doctor need, reduced daily living skills/self-care, continuous loss of weight, increased discomfort, etc.
